A 24 metre mono hull vessell loaded stores at low tide from the Perry Harvey Jetty on Christmas Eve. This challenges the claims by marina lobbyists that the Perry Harvey Jetty is too short, too shallow, unsafe and unusable. Following a visit to Mission Beach in January last year (2015) and meeting with select community members who support a marina, the minister for Infrastructure and Planning Dr Anthony Lynham announced that all upgrade works at the jetty including additional landings were to be abandoned. All remaining funds for the Mission Beach Safe Boating Infrastructure project would now to go toward an intrusive rock wall extension (up to 180 metres) at the Clump Point Boat Ramp to provide for permanent berths (a marina).
